Heating Retrofit of a Logistics Centre near the D1 Motorway
An energy audit showed that it was cost-effective to retain the distribution system and replace only the heat sources and controls. Gas consumption dropped by a third.
Scope of Work
The operator of a logistics park wanted to reduce heating costs for the warehouses and administrative section. The original plan was to replace the entire boiler room.
- Energy audit of the entire site including two solution variants
- Gas boiler room retrofit — retained distribution system, new condensing heat sources
- New equalizer control and integration with the building's BMS
- Hydraulic balancing of the heating system including a balancing report
- Updated energy performance certificate (PENB) after completion of measures
Outcome
The investment came in approximately 40% lower than the proposed full replacement. After the first season, gas consumption dropped by roughly a third, and the site passed the mandatory inspection of operating systems.
